Admissions Test

admin May 06, 2009

All new providers on Elance must take and pass a basic admissions test in order to place proposals and have their profile listed in search results.   The admissions test covers the concepts found on the Elance University web pages, the Provider Guide, our Terms of Service, and the general help section.  To take the test, go to the skills section of your profile page or when prompted when creating your profile.  The purpose of the test is to ensure providers have taken the time to understand how Elance works before engaging with potential clients.

To pass the admissions test, providers must correctly answer 80% of the questions.  You can retake the test a maximum of 3 times and there is a 1 hour waiting period between test retakes.

One of the following statuses will appear next to the admissions test on a provider's profile:

  • Passed:  The provider has taken and passed the Elance admissions test.
  • Not Yet Passed:  The provider has not yet passed the admissions test.
  • Not Required: The provider is not required to take the admissions test since they were an active provider before the admissions test was required.
