Elance offers over 300 skill tests across a wide variety of topics.  Besides our standard skill tests, we now offer a special type of skill test that shows "Code-Tested" following the test name.  

Standard skill tests use a timed multiple choice format which helps identify the knowledge providers have about a specific subject.  The "Code-Tested" tests require the test taker to solve 10 defined problems by having them write and compile computer code in the specific language.  Besides creating a working solution and doing it in the allotted time, the test score is also impacted by supplying concise code as well as code that uses minimum memory.  

Code-Tested and regular skill tests both show graphically how well the provider did on the test by including a line showing the average test score.  For those test takers who do really well,  a special indicator highlights the score as the top 1% up to the top 30% of all test takers.
