For Hourly jobs, Auto-Pay allows payments to be made automatically with the Client's default payment method. Auto-Pay is enabled for all Hourly jobs and is a handy feature for longer term engagements, where both parties want the regular payment cadence of predictable cash flow for the Freelancer, and predictable expense flow for the Client. Below is a summary of how Auto-Pay works:
Clients and Freelancers agree to a number of Authorized Hours for the Hourly job.
The Client must have a credit card or PayPal account selected as their default payment method.
Timesheets are automatically submitted to clients at 7 AM ET on the Monday following the work week.
Payment will be processed on the following Saturday at 12 AM ET.
Auto-payment amounts are limited to the number of hours previously authorized by the Client. Clients will always have the option to manually pay their freelancer before Friday.
Note: If the Auto-Pay payment fails, both parties will be notified and the feature will be suspended. Unless Auto-Pay is re-enabled, the Client will need to pay all Timesheets manually going forward.
Can Auto-Pay be turned off?
No, when a Freelancer uses Tracker, Auto-Pay is always enabled if the Client has their default payment method in place. if you wish to avoid using Auto-Pay, Tracker should not be used by the Freelancer for managing time and submitting Timesheets. However, note that failure to use Tracker will mean that both Client and Freelancer will no longer qualify for Work View Payment Protection on Hourly jobs.
