How do I verify or change my country location?

How do I set my country location on my profile?

The location on your Freelancer profile must be where the work is being performed as opposed to your business location, home address, etc.  If work is performed from multiple locations, the location that the majority of the work is performed in needs to be indicated. Example: If you have a sales office in New York but your development work is done in India, your profile location must reflect India.

Follow these steps to update your location:

  1. Sign in to your Elance account
  2. Go to Find Work then select Freelancer Profile
  3. Click Contact Info from the left navigation
  4. Click Edit next to Primary Contact
  5. Make changes and click Save

How do I verify my country location if my country field is not editable?

If the location indicated on your profile does not match our database records you will not be able to select your country by following the steps above. Instead, you will need to provide proof of address.  

Please, scan and send a copy of one of the following documents: 

  • Utility bill 
  • Passport 
  • Driver license 

The scanned document can be sent to trustandsafety@elance-odesk.com. Please, be sure to include your username in your message.
